LAGOS—NIGERIA Labour Congress, NLC, faction led by Joe Ajaero has said the death of Emma Ezeazu, former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, and activist, should propel a united labour movement and genuine reconciliation in NLC.
Speaking at a colloquium organised by students of University of Lagos, UNILAG, in honour of Ezeazu, a Deputy President of the Ajaero faction, Mr. Issa Aremu, said that the best posthumous honour for Ezeazu, who has been buried in Onitsha, Anambra State, was for all comrades, especially in the labour movement, to be united and fight for a new Nigeria founded on prosperity and social justice for all.
Aremu said the late Ezeazu was a unifier, saying he “was a dependable ally during the national struggle against military dictatorship.
“I call on all comrades to take advantage of the unifying legacy of Emma to heed the advice of the President of the National Industrial Court, NIC, Justice Babatunde Adejumo, that we reconcile rather than engage in unhelpful litigations.”
Aremu said the late activist “left behind the values of selflessness and comradeship in the tradition of late Abdulraham Black, Bala Muhammed, Aka Bashorun, Chima Ubani, Dr. Ransome Kuti, among others. He was also a patriot and pan-Africanist.
