Lagos—The Ijaw of the Niger Delta have applauded the new Ooni of Ife, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, on his ascending the throne of his forefathers without politics of bitterness, adding that it has further confirmed the Yoruba’s value for tradition and culture.

They expressed hope that the emergence of the new Ooni of Ife, would bring greater development and peace to the cradle of Yoruba nation.

A statement by Comrade Joseph Evah, on behalf of the Ijaw Monitoring Group, IMG, said as a man of peace, a great businessman and a lover of culture and tradition, the new Ooni will showcase the beauty of the  rich Yoruba culture and improve on the great achievements of the late Ooni.

Evah recalled that the late Ooni, Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade “strengthened the influence of Yoruba culture and tradition across the globe. It is our belief that this new development shows that a young visionary and committed prince will continue from where the late Ooni stopped.”
