The authorities of the University of Ilorin have recommended the elevation and appointment of some senior lecturers of the institution into professorial status.
The recommendation of the new appointees was sequel to the meeting of Senior Staff Appointment and Promotion Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, on Monday.
An impeccable source told The Herald in Ilorin yesterday that the outgoing chairman of Unilorin chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities and an associate professor, Abdulrasheed Abiodun Adeoye, was among those elevated to professorship.
A senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law identified as Oba was also recommended for the appointment as a professor. The appointment, according to the source would be officially ratified by the university�s council at its next sitting expected to hold soon.
Until his appointment, Adeoye was a senior lecturer in the Department of the Performing Arts who has carved a niche for himself in the academic scholarship. He is a versatile academician, a public analyst, a social critic, a social crusader and a vibrant theatre scholar with keen interest in stage directing.
