EFCC summons 14 Osun officials over alleged fraud.

Osun state Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been advised to purge his administration of corrupt elements

– The officials are to appear before the EFCC on Monday to state what they know about the alleged diversion of over N.3 billion public fund
 – The EFCC acted on a petition from the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun state and is expected to grill the officials at its Ibadan zonal office
 – The rights group urged Governor Rauf Aregbesola to purge his government of such alleged corrupt elements  Some top officials of the Osun state government are to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an allegation of fraud.



The top management staff of the Osun state college of education, Ila-Orangun were reportedly summoned by the anti-graft agency to explain what they know about an alleged illegal diversion of over N.3 billion approved for the construction of a lecture theatre and other valuable projects in institution.

The rights group, led by its chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, had earlier appeared before the agency to endorse its petitions among which was the one dated Monday, 21
 March, 2016 which was forwarded to the acting executive chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu. Those invited are Oyeniyi Akande, chairman of the college’s governing council and younger brother to Chief Bisi Akande , former interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC); Professor  Isaac Oyewole, the college’s provost; Aderiola Adeoti, the college’s registrar, Akin Latilo, former bursar.

Others are Basiru Gbadamosi and David Olayinka Olojede, a member of the governing council, Oyegbade Reuben Abayo, Amobi Yinusa Akinlola, Ayoola Peter Olajiola, Moses Oyewole Otitoola, Kujeunbola Oluwafemi, Omotosho Adeleke and Adeleke Sulaiman Ajala. They are all to appear at the EFCC zonal office in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Sulaiman disclosed that as a result of the invitation, the affected officers held marathon meetings on Friday at the Ogunlade guest house of the institution. He also revealed that Gbadamosi had recently returned N10 million out of the project funds in question. According to CSCEOS: “As third eye of the people, it is our responsibility and right to expose every yoke of corruption in our society as stipulated in sections 15 sub-section(5) and 24 sub-sections (1e) of  the amended 1999 constitution.

 “We all know that it is abominable for a leader to betray the trust of his people and this is against the teaching of Prophet Muhammed.” The group also urged Governor Rauf Aregbesola to purge his government of alleged bad eggs like the ones affected by the EFCC invitation.
