Good ideals!!! Scientists Discover Why It Is Necessary For Our Brains To Forget What We Learn

Image result for image of human brain

Ever wonder why you forget things and remember others? What if I told you that just as your brain has certain signals for how to remember things, it also has certain signals to tell it what to forge? This information, coming from Lund University in Sweden has been supported by some compelling research. There are several reasons why your brain may forget information but it boils down to a simple concept — when you brain has one stimulus it tends to remember the information a$$ociated with this stimulus. In cases with multiple stimuli, you may forget because your brain does not know what to “a$$ign” the a$$ociation to. This information can change the way you learn and update the way teachers educate their students.

Examples of Mechanisms to Help Learn

After looking at the research conducted from Lund University, I realized it began a little bit like Pavlov’s study where he conditioned his dogs to salivate at the anticipation of food. At Lund University, they wanted to see if animals could learn to a$$ociate a certain tone or light pattern to a puff of air blown into their eye. The air buff in their eye causes the reaction of a blink. Therefore, eventually the tone or the light would make the animal or human blink before the puff had even been triggered. They found much like Pavlov’s dogs, this did work. When either the light or the tone was played the conditioning took affect and the subjects blinked as expected.

                                                            The Twist

The scientists then did something a little different with the study. Instead of having one stimulus, they decided to have a tone and the light signal at the same time. Some would think that this would reinforce the conditioning now that there were two things “warning” of the impending air puff. The result was somewhat surprising. Amazingly, the subjects were less likely to react to the two stimuli put together. The results got worse instead of better when there were two “warnings” given to the subjects. As explained by one of the Swedish brain researchers: “Two stimuli therefore achieve worse results than just one. It seems contrary to common sense, but we believe that the reason for it is that the brain wants to save energy.” - See more at: http://www.gltrends.com/scientists-discover-why-it-is-necessary-for-our-brains-to-forget-what-we-learn/#sthash.NgCtRxRx.dpuf

Thus, at Etisalat Nigeria, we are committed to playing a significant role in encouraging excellent education across the nation”, he said.

The representative of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, who is the Deputy Director, Colleges of Education, Mr. Ezekiel Funsho, commended Etisalat for the CSR initiative, and said it will go a long way in improving the standard of education in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Professor Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, who spoke on behalf of Vice-Chancellors of the beneficiary schools, expressed appreciation to Etisalat for its commitment to education through various innovative interventions in the sector as well as in other sectors. “This laudable gesture underscores the importance of public-private partnership. Apart from these grants to the universities and students’ scholarships, I commend Etisalat for its visits to schools and support of students through sport and other social activities. In their last visit to our school, one of our students, Patrick, won a brand new car”.

Congratulating the awardees, Prof. Zuru encouraged them to work harder, “you are the best for now, you should work harder so that you can be here again next year because you are the future of this nation”, he said.

This year the Etisalat Merit Awards will be presented to a total of 20 Nigerian universities and 200 students, bringing the total number of beneficiaries of the program to date to 1,450.

Etisalat is also involved in other CSR activities such as Adopt-A-School, Career Counselling, ETEP (Etisalat Telecommunications Engineering Programme) and a host of others.

Gobe!! Pastor Arrested For Impregnating 20 Women In His Church, Including Married Ones (Photos)

2180536_2651CAD2000005782979585imagea11425494244560

A 53-year-old pastor who reportedly impregnated 20 members of congregation claims the Holy Spirit ordered him to have s*x with them.

Nigerian police have now arrested Timothy Ngwu for abusing the young girls and women at Vineyard Ministry of the Holy Trinity.

Ngwu’s abusive behaviour was finally reported to the police by his estranged wife Veronica who grew tired of his adulterous behaviour – and reportedly impregnated her young neice.

A spokesperson for the Enugu State Police command told Naij.com he claims to be obeying the ‘spiritual’ urge to carry out the will of God, ‘irrespective of whether the woman is married or not.’
Ebere Amaraizu added: ‘When the woman is delivered of the baby, the child remains in the ministry with the mother for life.’
Ngwu told the same website he has 13 children with five different wives and the mistresses God’s ‘prophetic’ will told him to acquire.

He also claims he never had s*x with any married woman unless their husbands consented to the Holy Spirit’s request.
Calista Omeje and Assumpta Odo both left their husbands to live with the pastor based on these holy commands.

Mother-of-eight Odo said Ngwu impregnated both her and her daughter, whose age is not known.
And Calista – who has 10 children with her husband – said the pastor impregnated her but the baby died. She also revealed that she ‘gave’ her daughter to him.

The pastor’s brother – who did not want to be identified – said he had warned both Ngwu and his family about the self-proclaimed clergyman’s behaviour for a long time but they refused to listen.

He claims the arrest is ‘God’s wrath falling on his brother’, adding: ‘God’s anger has befallen my brother, we have severally appealed to him to stop what he was doing but he refused.

‘He has colonised our compound, bearing children with recklessness. He accused us of being jealous of him because he is doing the will of God.’
Pointing at the church’s compound, he continued: ‘Look at these buildings here… He has converted all of them to himself in the name of vineyard.

‘He sacked his betrothed wife who has three children for him and embarked on impregnating married women and young girls. Look at the whole compound littered with children of different s*x and age.’
‘All members of the vineyard are fools, how can a woman abandon her husband for another man in the name of worshiping God and practice adultery? I cannot get myself involved in this matter.

‘Let them sort themselves out with the police but I want the ministry to be shut down completely,’ he added.’

Human Skull Found Inside A Church Ceiling In Lagos.

Human-skull-found-in-church-celling

Wonders shall never end! Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions said 49-year-old Samson Adeneye and a woman, Oyerinde Olawunmi, 48, have a case to answer in a matter in which a human skull was found in the ceiling of an orthodox church in Lagos.

Two policemen attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office.
A human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim church on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of Lagos.

Prior to the incident, Adeneye and Olawunmi, who were former members of the church, were said to have sent threat text messages to some of the church’s ministers.
The two suspects were said to have accused the pastors of occultism and threatened to deal with them and kill them.

Both suspects had alerted the two SARS officers that there was a case of gun-running in the assembly. And the policemen reportedly stormed the assembly without any search warrant and headed for the ceiling where they allegedly found the item.

According to Punch, further investigations by the police revealed that the two ex-embers might have arranged the object to implicate the pastors, as suggested by earlier text messages sent to them.
They were subsequently arrested and charged to Court. The matter was earlier adjourned for DPP’s advice.

The DPP, in its advice signed by the Deputy Director, Adegboyega Bajulaiye, said:
“After carefully considering the facts available in the duplicate case file, this office is of the view that there are sufficient facts to establish a prima facie case of conspiracy to commit felony to wit; offering violence to officiating ministers of religion, written threat to kill and publication of false news which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public…

“Facts available in the duplicate case file reveal that prior to January 19, 2013, there was a malice that brewed up over the years between Apostle Albert Samson and Samson Adeneye, which culminated into unauthorised search on the premises of Albert by men of SARS, led by ASP Franklin Alade, on the trumped-up allegation of gunrunning.

This act of the police officers, which was believed to have been instigated by Adeneye, amount to abuse of office….”
The advice further stated that the two defendants had been sending death threat messages to the ministers, that were meant to distract them from their duties as ministers.

On the matter of the skull, the advice said, “There is however a strong inference from the facts in the case file that Adeneye may have been instrumental to placing ritual objects, including human skulls, on the ceiling of Albert’s church because of his prior accusation of Albert being a ritualist.

This will only amount to speculation and suspicion, which no matter how grave, cannot stand in the place of law, particularly in the absence of eyewitness account or unequivocal evidence of inference.”

The DPP said based on findings, Adeneye and Olawunmi, should be arraigned for conspiracy to commit felony, written threat to kill and publication of false information.
The magistrate, Mrs. A.O Adedayo, will give her position/ruling on the matter on July 1, 2014.

What Buhari Needs To Succeed – Jonathan.

buhari_april

President Goodluck Jonathan has asked Nigerians to be ready to make sacrifices in order to help the President-elect retired General Muhammadu Buhari succeed.

Jonathan spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday when he received a delegation of the Federal Capital Territory residents led by his vice, Mohammed Namadi Sambo, who paid him Easter homage.

The president described Easter, as a period of sacrifice.
He said: “Whenever we talk about this period, the key lesson there is sacrifice. Somebody sacrificed for our own salvation.

“Now, Buhari is coming on board; it is not about supporting Buhari or government, but what sacrifice, as individuals, are you willing to make for government and for the nation?”
He asked whether Nigerians would be ready to make the sacrifice of backing Buhari if he should increase Value Added Tax (VAT) from five to 10 percent.

There is already a proposal in the medium term expenditure framework now before the National Assembly to increase VAT from five percent.
The President said: “In the ECOWAS sub-region for example, Nigeria has the lowest VAT, other countries pay up to 12 percent.

“If for instance, Buhari decides to increase VAT from 5 to 10 percent, will Nigerians support him? That is sacrifice, and we must make sacrifice.”
The president maintained that no government would survive if the citizens, especially businessmen, refuse to pay tax.

“If you are a businessman and you say you are supporting government, but you don’t pay tax; how do you expect that government to survive? That government will not survive,” he said.

He recalled that as a deputy governor in Bayelsa State his people used to come to him to pledge their loyalty. He said he often responded, “Don’t tell me you are loyal; tell me you are patriotic to the country and that you believe in Bayelsa State.

“To me, whenever I travel to different countries and see things work, those things didn’t fall down as many people made sacrifice.

“Therefore, in Nigeria, people must also be ready to make the required sacrifice. Whoever becomes president is immaterial so long as the citizens are happy; our children go to school, when they are sick, they go to good hospital and of course, the economy blossoms.

“Nation building depends on the sacrifices of individuals and the patriotism of the citizens. These are two key elements.

“We are talking about Boko Haram or terror; soldiers are dying for us to live, police are dying for us to live. That is sacrifice.
As individuals, you don’t need to die, but there are various roles you need to play. You must make sacrifice.

“The economy of China was threatened, but they locked up themselves for a period of time. And by the time they opened their doors, they become even a threat to the biggest economy.
“Are we ready for that kind of sacrifice for the government? Whenever we talk of Easter, these are the key lessons of sacrifice”, Jonathan said.

The president reminisced about his years of service from being the deputy governor of Bayelsa State to being the nation’s number one citizen and said: “I think it is enough”.

The president said since 1999, he had been in a cage “being taken care of by the government”.
“For me as an individual, this Easter coincides with the time I’m leaving. But I always say that I’m one of the luckiest Nigerians. I’m yet to see somebody luckier than me. From 1999, I was in the hands of government for 16 years.

“I was in a cage, being taken care of by the government. From May 29, 1999 to date;
16 good years! I think it is enough and I am happy. Help me to thank God for that …Today is a glorious day for me.”

Those in the delegation were Secretary to the Government of the Federation Anyim Pius Anyim; Chief of Staff Jones Arogbofa; Head of Service Danladi Kifasi; Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Nigeria Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh; Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Cardinal John Onaiyekan; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission John Kennedy-Opara; Chief Imam of the National Mosque Alhaji Muhammed Musa, among others.

Shocking:- I Wish To Die In 20 Years – Pastor Adeboye.

Pastor-E-Adeboye-interview
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, said he does not wish to live longer than 92 years.

The 72 year old revered cleric said this on Sunday, while delivering the sermon at the 60th birthday of the founder and president of Living Faith Church worldwide, a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop Oyedepo.

In his speech, Adeboye noted that every birthday was a reminder that days of every human being were numbered.
Speaking further, he recalled that: “When I marked 70 and people prayed that I would be up to 80, I said amen. When they said I would be up 90, I said well, amen. But when they said 100, I didn’t say amen.

“I didn’t because I don’t know what offence I would have committed for God to keep me up to 100 in this sinful world when a crown of glory is awaiting me in heaven”.
The preacher, however, said he would not mind to live more than 20 years ahead.

“I wouldn’t mind to be 92 though, so that I will be alive to preach when Bishop Oyedepo is 80,” he said.

‘i Will Lead Protest To Chibok, And I Don’t Mind Being Shot’ – Patience Jonathan.

Patience__Jonathan
Patience Jonathan
First Lady Patience Jonathan has said she’s ready to lead a protest to Chibok, Borno state if the kidnapped girls are not released soon, and doesn’t mind being shot if that’s what it will take to release the girls. (hehehehe! lol).

Mama peace made this statement during a meeting with wives of government functionaries, female Senators and Commissioners.

“I do not mind being shot as long as they return our girls to us safely, we are tired of the kidnapping,” she said.
According to her, First Ladies of other countries such as Cameroon, Chad, Niger and others have  being calling to ask her questions and offer assistance on the matter.

“They intimate me of their readiness to help. They also asked me questions that I could not answer ‎and as women we are the last hope of this nation. We cannot fail our fellow women and the nation. If need be, we will call on the northern elders to help us so that our children and husbands will not die,” Dame Jonathan said.‎‎

She said a committee would be set up at a stakeholders meeting involving wives of all the relevant bodies tomorrow May 4th. She warned that failure of any relevant agency to honour their invitation to the meeting would force her and others to make the Chibok protest a reality.

“I cannot perpetuate hearsay and rumour; I must have facts to tell the international community. We will set up a committee to seek the truth as women. If any of those we call refuse to come, we will take the protest to Chibok” she said

Governor Fayose Reveals Buhari’s ”Only Achievement”

fayose_image

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State yesterday took a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari saying the only achievement recorded by the administration has been the harassment of leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a statement, Governor Fayose commended the president for his efforts at ending the Boko Haram insurgency saying “I wish to call on all Nigerians to support the President in restoring peace to the Boko Haram ravaged North Eastern part of Nigeria.”

He, however, berated the Buhari administration for the alleged lopsided appointments, selective anti-corruption crusade and the recent invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House by officials of the Department of State Security, DSS.

Besides, he said “As at today, the only achievement recorded by the President Buhari’s government is the harassment of leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those perceived as not on the same political page with the president in his party.”

In addition, he said: “President Mohammadu Buhari’s government is now 100 days and even though I align with most Nigerians, who opined that 100 days is too short in the life of a government, it is important to make some clarifications as regards the administration.

This is more so that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and some political jobbers that are looking for appointments are praising the President, citing imaginary achievements.”

Also, he said: “Former President Goodluck Jonathan and those who worked with him as well as PDP governors and leaders are now targets of harassment, and by this, the president is telling Nigerians that it does not pay to be honourable.

Dr Goodluck Jonathan was honourable enough to allow a peaceful transition and conceded to the president even though it was obvious that his victory was questionable.

Visiting such a person and those who worked with him with persecution as being done now, is no doubt a sad reminder of the reason we have many sit-tight leaders in Africa.

Interestingly, some of those who worked with Dr Goodluck Jonathan that the APC called thieves are now being appointed to manage the affairs of international organisations like the World Bank and African Development Bank.”

Assembly approves bailout package
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State House of Assembly has permitted the state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, to obtain loans and explore avenues to help the government extricate itself from current financial crisis.
It resolved that the governor should partake in the Excess Crude Account (ECA)-backed loan being made available to states facing challenges of finance to the tune of N10 billion.

In a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the House Speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, the assembly also passed a resolution on the intention of the state government to partake in the Federal Government bailout package for payment of backlog arrears of workers’ salaries and bonuses.
The Speaker, Pastor Kola Oluwawole explained that the state governor had written a letter to the House seeking its resolution over the matter.

About N19.6 billion loan will be accessed by the state, apart from the N10 billion from ECA, the government would access N9,604,430,000 from Skye Bank on a 20-year repayment plan at nine per cent interest.

Ask APC govs to declare assets instead — PDP
Also, the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has asked the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress to advice the governors elected on the platform of their party to first of all declare their assets before shamefully demanding for that of the Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.

The PDP said until the opposition party do this they should remain in the wilderness of foolishness where their likes belongs as its expected that a party peopled by intelligent persons should know that you can only ask question on what you are not guilty of.

This was the assertion of the Ekiti PDP in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Jackson Adebayo in Ado Ekiti in reaction to the purported demand by the opposition party that the Governor of the State, Mr Ayo Fayose should declare his assets.

The PDP asserted that the declaration made by President Muhammadu Buhari contained many loopholes which no sensible being should be proud of.
Adebayo stated that the declaration made by Buhari cannot be compared to that made by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua which till date has been adjudged as a perfect declaration by any Nigerian President.

70 Year Old Man Resurrects In Mortuary 30 Hours After Being Certified Dead.

00

70-year-old Amos Otene reportedly resurrected after he was certified dead by medical practitioners in Makurdi, Benue State.

According to a report, Doctors at a private hospital in the town had, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, certified Otene dead at 4.30 a.m. and wheeled him into the mortuary where his was for 30 hours awaiting instructions from members of the family for embalming.

According to reports, Otene had had a toothache and was rushed to the private clinic, on Tuesday, August 25. A day later, he was certified dead and the doctors whose names were not mentioned in the report wanted to embalm him but because there was no family member to give the go-ahead, they instructed that his body be wheeled to the morgue.

30 hours later, Eche Otene, the son of the ‘deceased’, who lives in Lafia, Nasarawa State, went to the morgue to identify his father’s body, however when he got there, his father raised his hand to acknowledge the presence of his son and followed that gesture by sitting up on the mortuary trolley.

The question everyone want answered is: Was the man sentenced to death by an inexperienced medical team or did he actually die but was brought back to life by God?

People who believe in science think Pa Otene could not have died in the first place and the question of resurrection was out of the question. The only explanation, according to a Makurdi-based medical practitioner, Dr. Ameh Edace, is that the retiree could only have been “in a long coma”.

The Medical Director of Rekiya Memorial Hospital, Kaduna, Dr. Bello Mohammed, said that “in the history of medicine, there has not been any case of anybody coming back to life after being certified dead.” He added:

“If a person is pronounced clinically dead, he remains dead and there is no way he can come back to life, certainly not after 24 hours. On this case in question, the only medical explanation is that the patient was in a long coma.”

To this school of thought therefore, if doctors had certified Pa Otene dead, then the competence of such doctors should be called to question.
There are others who think it’s a miracle by God who brought him back to life.
Is this a case of a miracle or medical incompetence?

Ambrose Ali University, Not How A University Should Be – Oshiomhole.

am

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has confessed that the state-owned Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, is yet to take the shape of what a university should look like.

Oshiomhole made the confession on Thursday at a town hall meeting with the people of the State in Benin as part of activities commemorating his seven years in office as governor of the state.

He said in spite of what his administration has done to reposition Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, he would admit that the University does not represent what a university should be.

He however announced that his administration would continue to sustain the funding of AAU, just as he called on parents to be prepared to pay higher fees to enable their children access quality education.
He however said his administration has achieved a lot in the education sector in the State.
