Anti-Saraki Senators back down, rally round embattled Senate President.


Some All Progressives Congress senators who opposed the election of Bukola Saraki as Senate President, held a rare meeting Tuesday with Mr. Saraki's key supporters from the same party, casting aside differences that for months polarised the ruling party's senate caucus.

The meeting between the anti-Saraki group's so-called Unity Forum and pro-Saraki's Like Minds, had in attendance 10 senators - five from each of the two camps. It took place at the Asokoro residence of Aliyu Wammako, a former Sokoto State governor.

ABUJA — Owing to allegation that N2 billion bribe was traced to his bank account, Justice Abdul Kafarati of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, yesterday, disqualified himself from a suit seeking  to stop the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

Though the suit was scheduled for judgement, Justice Kafarati, however, said he was left with no option than to hands off the matter after his attention was drawn to two online publications alleging that he had been compromised by the Senate President.

According to Sahara Reporters, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike’s Special Adviser on Special projects, Cyril Dum Nwite, was paraded after his arrest, alongside four other men for allegedly being in possession of fake police and military uniforms and N3 million during the state’s rerun for National and State Assembly members in Bori, Rivers state today March 19th.

59,000 Candidates To Retake Examination – JAMB.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Friday said the board would reschedule examination for candidates who missed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination because of relocation of centres by the board.

The board said it relocated 59,000 candidates in 15 states because of problems in some of the centres.

It also said candidates who had system failure during the examination would retake it, if the board finds their complaint to be genuine.

The Vice Chancellor, of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Idowu Olayinka, at the recently marked matriculation ceremony during which 4,800 freshmen were matriculated into the various disciplines of the university, warning them against involvement in cultism or other acts capable of working against their career .

The House of Representative on Thursday, March 17 directed the Joint Admissions Matriculation Examination, JAMB to discontinue the Computer Based Test, CBT. The House said “technical flaws” recorded in the latest computer-based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination had exposed JAMB’s lack of capacity to handle the computer-based tests.
