They were competitors in the APC Presidential Primaries but now former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubukar has sent his formal congratulations to President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari.

Read the message posted via his official website atiku.org

Congratulatory message by Atiku Abubakar, GCON, former Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the election of president-elect, His Excellency, General Muhammadu Buhari.

My hearty congratulations to His Excellency, General Muhammadu Buhari, for being elected the next president of our beloved county, Nigeria. You have led our party, the All Progressives Congress to an unprecedented victory within two years of it’s official formation, and in so doing, written the most important chapter of our democracy.

The great Nnamdi Azikiwe once wrote that “history will continue to vindicate the just”. Your victory in the polls, with votes from across the length and breadth of our country, bears witness to the acceptance of not just our party, the APC, but also your ideology of justice, fair play and zero tolerance for corruption as the bedrock for national rebirth.

At this historic moment, it is most important to say a hearty thank you to every Nigerian who voted for the APC. Your votes have not just elected the first opposition party into federal power, but has also set a precedent which will have positive implications for democracy across Africa.

Dear GMB, the journey has just begun. Millions of Nigerians have put their trust in you, because they were not satisfied with the status quo. You represent the hope of a new generation of Nigerians, and you cannot afford to fail them.

Our party has made a promise of change to our young people, to secure and rebuild our country, create jobs and opportunity, and improve citizens’ welfare. We will stand behind you to ensure we keep those promises, just like we did during these elections.

Our country needs a new direction. We have voted for you, and our party won the election, but when you assume our highest office, you must become the president of not just the APC, but all of Nigeria, including the people who did not vote for you. We look up to you to heal the fractures of our country, and truly unite this country like never before.

To President Jonathan, I want to specially thank you for conducting a historic election. Your party may have lost the elections, but you have won the admiration of the world by not interfering with the wishes of Nigerians. History will be kind to you.

It is my sincere hope that we will all come together as one country, to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

God bless Nigeria.

Fayose CONGRATULATES Buhari, urge Nigerians to accept result.

Governor Ayodele Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged Nigerians to accept the outcome of Saturday’s presidential election in good faith, saying; “the election result is the will of God and Nigerians, and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it”.

Mr. Fayose, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, hailed the resilience and commitment of President Goodluck Jonathan and Mohammadu Buhari.

The governor said the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party, adding that, “To me, Nigerians and democracy won.”

He praised Nigerians for believing in the democratic process, adding that “by this election, Nigerians have shown that Democracy has come to stay in the country”.

The governor said, “I salute Nigerians, especially the great people of Ekiti State.

“I salute President Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for democracy in Nigeria. And I salute Major General Buhari for being a resilience and dogged fighter.

“I urge Nigerians, irrespective of their ethic, religious and political affiliation to respect the outcome of the election in the interest of peace, progress and development of the country.

“Nigeria as a country is greater than any individual or group and it is my plea that no one should do anything to rock the boat of peace in the country.”

After concluding his accreditation in the Daura area of Katsina, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, is reportedly at home waiting to return to his polling unit.

Buhari, who got accredited in the presence of his wife, Aisha, is in high spirits and is getting ready to cast his vote as he was pictured smiling profusely while making a call at home.

What Jonathan, Buhari Did To Win 2015 Poll.

What has changed for General Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, and for the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, who is contesting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)?

Story Highlights:

When Buhari and Jonathan have already faced in the contest
Jonathan’s victory in 2011
What has changed for Jonathan

A device that practically limits the capacity of parties to manipulate votes
The two major contenders in the Saturday presidential election are no strangers to each other.

The two men first encountered themselves on the ballot in 2007 when Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was running mate in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ticket headed by late Alhaji Umaru Yar‘Adua and General Muhammadu Buhari was at the head of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP ticket.

The PDP easily won that election that even the victor, Yar‘Adua admitted to some extent was tainted and thus pushed forward the momentum for electoral reforms which were consolidated after Dr. Jonathan succeeded him in office.

In 2011, the two men again faced off with Jonathan coasting home to victory with 22.19 million votes and Buhari running second with 11.98 million votes.

The candidate of the then Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu polled about 2 million votes. Jonathan went home after polling day in 2011 with 23 states and Abuja, while Buhari won 12 states. Ribadu managed to win only in Osun State.

The Jonathan victory in 2011 was remarkable as he won all but one state (Osun) in the South; won all but one state in the North-Central (Niger) and pulled off victory in two states in the Northeast -Taraba and Adamawa.

The only geopolitical zone he did not win a state was in the Northwest and even then, the president made some remarkable scores polling of 25 per cent in all but Jigawa and Kano in the Northwest base of his major challenger.

Remarkably, the president polled more than 20 per cent in all the seven Northwest states.
What Has Changed For Jonathan

Two of the seven states in the Northwest, Sokoto and Zamfara where the president had incumbent PDP governors to mobilise for him have changed to the APC.

But given that the president did not win the two states even with the support of those governors, it really would not matter much for Team Jonathan.

What would bother his capacity to mobilise 25% of the votes could be a threat by the hostility of the Sokoto and Zamfara governors.

A major change in the political permutation for Team Jonathan is that six states Jonathan won in 2011 with incumbent PDP governors to mobilise votes for him have changed loyalties to Buhari.

The six states are Rivers, Kwara, Nasarawa, Imo, Ogun and Oyo. Jonathan won handsomely in 2011 in the six states but governors in those states are now actively pushing for Buhari.

The inclination of some governors such as Ebonyi remains suspicious given their lack of control in the affairs of their state chapters of the PDP.

On the brighter side for the president is that his party’s chances in the Southwest have between 2011 and now improved with the enthronement of Governor Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti State.

Also, quite unlike before, the president’s hands on campaign especially in the Southwest has brought him out as a more personable president.

The most remarkable positive change for Jonathan is the fact that in 2011 he contested against three major candidates, Buhari (CPC), Ribadu (ACN) and Shekarau (ANPP).

Between 2011 and 2015, two of his major rivals, Ribadu and Shekarau have dramatically altered their political perspectives to shape in with that of Jonathan and the two men are today actively backing him.

In 2011, Buhari won in 12 states all of which were in the North. Nine of the states he won were at that time controlled by PDP governors, namely: Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi and Niger.

The other three states, Kano which also had a presidential candidate in the person of Ibrahim Shekarau, Yobe and Borno were controlled by the defunct ANPP.

Going into the 2015 election, Buhari now has the five governors of Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Yobe and Kano actively pushing for him.

What is going good for Team GMB is the fact that without much of an organisation and support from any governor he was able to win 12 states in 2011.

He, however, has to contend with the fact that one of the big states he won in 2011, Borno is now politically fractured. Though the governor is actively supporting Buhari, the governor’s former main man, Senator Ali Sheriff, SAS is now actively backing Jonathan.
What Has Changed For Jonathan And Buhari?

One main thing that has changed for the two main candidates is the introduction of the card reader, a device that practically limits the capacity of parties to manipulate votes in areas where they are strong.

In one state in 2011 the difference in votes cast between the hotly contested governorship election and the presidential was more than 500,000.

Such incidents would now be limited by the ability of the card reader to ensure that only voter’s cards that pass through the card reader are allotted ballot papers.

Weapons recovered from arrested political thugs in Oyo State
Officials of the Oyo state police command no doubt had a busy day on March 28, as the country’s presidential and House of Assembly elections were ongoing.

The state’s commissioner of police, Muhammadu Katsina, who spoke with The Nation correspondent on Monday, revealed that the command arrested twenty four suspected political thugs during the polls.

Weapons recovered from arrested political thugs in Oyo State
He made the disclosure while parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The Commissioner of Police listed the suspects to include members of a cult group, One Million Boys, in Mapo.

The police boss further explained that the suspects were arrested during the polls with weapons as they assaulted and injured people, some of whom have been admitted to hospital.

Katsina said the mayhem unleashed by the suspects attracted the attention of the police Special Force, which engaged the hoodlums in a gunfight.

He said sixteen members of the gang were arrested with some arms recovered from them.
The suspects’ names were given as Patrick John, Olunloyo Ibrahim, Oluwafemi Adele, Adikpe Joseph, Olamide Abidemi, Ahmed Mukaila, Ramoni Saka, Ojo Adewale, Rasheed Afeez, Adeleke Shola, Adeleke Ibrahim, Adeleke Tunde, Adedapo Nurudeen, Dele Abu, Monsuru Olalekan and Akeem Monsuru.

The commissioner further hinted that the command’s pre-election efforts also led to the arrest of eight robbery suspects.

He said the suspects allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry from one Madam Oluwafolakemi Fabodede in Akure, Ondo state, adding that the robbers then moved to Oyo State to attack Joba Pharmacy and a filling station at Iroko on Oyo-Ibadan Road.

Katsina said the robbers were accosted by the Police Ambush Squad, which overpowered and arrested them after a gun battle.

It is understood that the leaders of the gang, whose names were given as Boluwaji Olawumi, John Isaac and Fagboyegun Wale, were among the escaped inmates from the Ekiti jailbreak of November 30, 2014.
The apprehended escapees were said to be awaiting trial for robbery and murder in Ekiti prison.

The police boss said one AK47 rifle stolen from a police officer with other weapons were recovered from the gang, while other weapons included 10 dane guns, one pump action, one cut-to-size, three single barrel guns as well as live cartridges.

The confessions of the apprehended political thugs are yet to be made official to the public in order to ascertain who hired them and also bring their sponsors to book.

Although it is not yet disclosed who the thugs were working for, it is imperative to mention that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate polled 528,620 votes, while Goodluck Jonathan, running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 303,376 votes.

President Goodluck Jonathan Jonathan’s hope dims heavily even as Buhari maintains slim lead.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is leading the way – albeit by a slender margin – in the 2015 presidential election contest.

After the declaration of results from 26 states (including the federal capital territory), President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has polled a total of 9,953,432 votes.

Buhari’s 10,454,137 votes means he is ahead of the president by only 500,705.

However, it leaves Jonathan with a high mountain to climb, considering that in the 10 states to go (Edo, Delta, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, Taraba, Yobe, Borno, Benue, Adamawa and Bauchi), he is only expected to win by a convincing margin in Edo and Delta, while Buhari is projected to win majority of the other eight states.

Buhari was leading Jonathan by more than 2 million votes after 19 states and his supporters continued claiming that results from Rivers state would alter the tide, but Rivers has now been named and the odds still favour the opposition candidate.

Mercy Johnson & Her Husband Share Their Amazing Love Story.

Odi: I met Mercy for the first time in 2008 on a flight from France. We both flew Business Class and I asked for her number but she refused.

She was very down-to-earth even as a celebrity. I know how a lot of them behave but she is different. Being very focused and a go-getter, I did everything I could just to have her including her number after I set my eyes on her.

Mercy: After the flight episode, he came around to Surulere where I was getting my hair done at a saloon. Somehow, he had gotten my number and we spoke. We talked and later had dinner.
Was it a case of love at first sight for both of you?

Odi: Yes, it was. I realised in no time that she is homely and everyone who comes in contact with her just loves her.

Mercy: I love his personality and I am in love with everything about him. He knew I was an actress but he didn’t know I was that popular. I remember the very first day I got to his house, he asked someone to buy some condiments for me to prepare soup for him.

Then, I said, ‘You must be joking, my name is Mercy Johnson’ and all he said was, ‘I know.’ That simple action drew me closer to him.
On How He Proposed

Mercy: During a conversation, he suggested that we take our relationship to the next level. While we were dating, I knew we would get married because he became a part of my life and we were very passionate about each other.

There was a day we attended a wedding and he said, ‘I think our wedding cake should have a tint of this colour.’

Any jitters when you were going to meet his parents for the first time?

Mercy: I met his parents on our third date and his mum liked me— she is a fan of my movies.
Were you prepared for the attention that comes with being married to a celebrity when you decided to marry her?

Odi: Yes I was. As a matter of fact, she was a star when I met her but not as big as she is right now. I have decided to remain on the quiet side and watch her excel in her career and I am extremely proud of her.

Was he comfortable with your movie roles?

Mercy: He wasn’t comfortable with the romantic scenes. I stopped taking up such roles in 2009 when I realised we were getting serious and headed for marriage. I was so in love with him that I started adjusting my lifestyle and personality to suit him.

He is enlightened and well-travelled. He understands the demands of my job and has no problems with my career. He simply gives me space to fly.

Photo:- Four-Year-Old Boy, Sister Burnt To Death In Lekki Fire.

A four-year-old boy, identified as Paul, and his sister, 1 year, have been burnt to death after fire gutted a bungalow in the Igbo-Efon, Lekki area of Lagos State. The incident happened around 5am on Saturday.

It was told that the fire began from a cooking stove which exploded in the bungalow where the victims lived with their parents.

The inferno was said to have quickly spread and torched the room where the children were.
Our correspondent gathered that the mother of the children fled the area and called for help, but the children could not be saved.

It was learnt that firefighters and other officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and National Emergency Management Agency were on ground during the incident.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said the agency was not alerted on time, adding that when firefighters got to the scene, they only met the charred remains of the victims.
He said,

“The fire started around 5am, and it involved a bungalow on 11, Fabiyi Street, Igbo Efon. The bungalow has a two and a three bedroom flats.“We were alerted to the incident exactly 6.03am and when we got there, we still met the fire raging. We deployed our men from the Eti-Osa and Onikan divisions in the area.

“However, when they got there, they only saw the corpses of the kids; they had suffered severe burns injuries.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the children’s father was not around, but their mother was. They were preparing a meal on the stove, when the stove exploded.

“The children could not escape it and that was how they were burnt to death.”
Fadipe said an uncle of the victim called the ambulance service which conveyed them to the mortuary, adding that the tragedy was avoidable if precaution had been taken by the children’s parents.

He advised members of the public to avoid storing kerosene and petrol in the same keg, which he said might have been responsible for the incident.

“We suspect that the explosion was because kerosene was mixed up with petrol in the tank of the stove. This could be because the couple used the same keg to buy petrol and kerosene.

“It is very important for people to ensure that the keg they use in buying kerosene is not the same used for petrol.

The spokesperson for NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the victims were with a couple in the area because of the elections, when a gas cooker exploded..
He said, “The children were in the area because of the election and wanted to seek refuge in the event that there was violence where they stayed with their parents. They were cooking when there was an explosion.

“The kids hid under the bed, but were burnt to death. Nobody knew they were there until somebody remembered that they were still in the house, but by then, it was too late.”
He added that officials of the agency tried to salvage the situation, but it was too late.

Gov Fayose Spotted At The Airport : Says “No I’m Not Running Away”

11

A familiar looking man was spotted by our correspodent yesterday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport with his entourage, desperately trying to book a ticket to Madagascar.

On closer inspection, we were shocked to realize it was Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose.
News making the rounds have it that after his scathing Newspaper adverts wishing death on General Buhari, Fayose is stunned by the current trend the results are following. Fearing a Buhari win and subsequent punishment for his libelous adverts, he decided to run away.

We could clearly hear him saying “Eh? Aburo no ticket? Ah. Wahala ti de o. Any standing? Joo fun mi standing, mo like e, mo manage. Ah, no standing? Mo ku. Kosi space ninu cargo hold? I will manage it. Ah my broda epp me……epp me……….if this baba wins, mo ku. The suffrin will not be a small something. Epp me”.

When we approached him he immediately changed his tune. “What? Me? Running away for fear that Buhari will win? Rubbish. I fear no man. I am only going to Madagascar for vacation. Why are you asking why I was begging to stand? I like standing. It’s good exercise”

A number of women, the elderly and children who were locked up by fleeing terrorists in Gwoza have been freed by troops as cordon and search along with mopping up operations continue in the town.

However, after six months at her job, a friend of Nyika spotted the wife in the city and dressed as a sex worker.

Apparently, it was not the first time he heard the allegations, but when it came from a close friend, Nyika decided to see for himself.

“I kept hearing it from a lot of people, so I decided to follow my wife to her work place and I caught her in the act with another man,” said Nyika.

Oscar Tafara, 48, was caught red-handed with his pants down with Dube.

Nyika allegedly beat his wife and her client.

Tafara said he did nothing wrong as he paid for the services that were provided to him and he had no knowledge that Dube was married.

Dube denied being a prostitute and explained that she was just having a conversation with Tafara about business. However, the evidence showed otherwise.
