The Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has said that, the current stop and search being embarked on by armed soldiers and other relevant security personnel deployed to the state was to forestall importation of arms and dangerous weapons to the state ahead of this Saturday polls.
He however advised the residents of the state to come out enmasse and cast their votes for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress and other candidates during the polls.
Speaking in Ilorin on Wednesday while distributing 185 motorcycles to the Joint Commercial Motorcycles Riders in the state, Ahmed said that, the residents of the state should go about their nornal duties and shun any acts capable of affecting the smooth conduct of this Saturday elections in the state.
He said that, the people of the state should come ou enmasse to vote for peace, prosperity and development of the country adding that, the deployment of armed soldiers and other security agencies to the state was to protect lives and property.
On the distribution of 185 motorbikes to the Joint Commercial Motorcycles Riders, Ahmed explained that the N25million empowerment scheme for Commercial Motorcycle riders adds to the list of life transforming programmes by the present administration in nearly four years.
