Baraje commends Buhari over re-introduction of teachers training colleges.

A former National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his plan to reintroduce Teachers Training Colleges (TTC) in the country.

Baraje who is a retired teacher and proprietor of an Islamic academy said Buhari's plan was in the right direction.

Baraje who stated this in Ilorin, Kwara state at the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the Ilorin Teachers College now Sheikh Abbulkadir College noted that the resuscitation of Teachers Colleges would arrest the falling standard of education across the country.

He stated that such decision would not only impact positively on the quality of the nation's education sector but will ensure a better teacher education system in the country.

Baraje who chaired the occasion lamented that since the abolition of teachers training colleges, the quality of the teaching profession has dwindled.

He noted with delight plan by the federal government to create a commission that will draft a method on how best the teachers training colleges will operate and meet up with international teaching standard.

The former PDP Acting National Chairman expressed optimism that the professional teachers, who have the skills and knowledge would be involved in the resuscitation of the training colleges across the country.

He commended the founding fathers as well as pioneer students of Sheikh Abdulkadir College for their steadfastness in taking the school to a greater height, urging them to continue to contribute their quota to the upliftment of the college.

Baraje who is an alumnus of the college promised to renovate the college mosque and provide toilets for the use of pupils and staff.
