Kwara approves N8.5m for Islamic examination scholarship.


The Kwara state government has approved the sum of N8.5 million for the sponsorship of final year students of Arabic schools in the state for the 2016 National Board of Arabic and Islamic School examination.

Solagberu, who is also the Rector of the institute, said the fund was meant to fulfill the scholarship package for 2016. The board chairman lauded the state government for putting up a board for Arabic Education, which he said was aimed at unifying and provide standard curriculum for Arabic schools.

He urged Arabic schools in the state that were yet to register under the board to do so for the benefit of the schools and students. The Rector charged the graduands of the school to be good ambassadors of Islam, explaining that Islam was against extremism and terrorism.

In his remark at the occasion, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development restated the commitment of the state government to uplifting Arabic Education alongside Western Education. The commissioner assured the state of an absolute youth enlightenment policy as well as aggressive reforms in the education sector in a bid to developing the state.

"The establishment of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board by Gov Abdulfatah Ahmed-led government is one of the good things that have happened to the state. "With the establishment, nobody can establish Arabic school in the state without the approval of the Ministry of Education", he said.

He explained that Arabic Language Education is like under languages and that everybody irrespective of the religion could enrol for Arabic studies.
